âś˝ Memoir
Got Injured

When I was a little, my parents built a new house in a housing estate. One afternoon, me, my father, my mother and my younger brother went to see our new home. When we got there, my father entered the house and went around to check what the builders were doing. A few moments later, we visited one of the neighbors who were very close to us. Once we got there, we were given a drink and some snacks. My parents talked to them while my brother and I blended in playing with their children, Diva who were at the same age as us. Then I borrowed Diva’s small two-wheeled bicycle. “Diva, may I borrow your bike?” I said. “Yes you can but for a moment, please.” replied Diva. “Okay, thank you.” I said again. Then I headed to a high place because their house was under a derivative road. While getting ready to glide I counted myself to three, then I was free to loose and when I jumped. I realized that it turned out that the bike I was riding had no brake. I remembered once at that time, I was wearing my favorite green nightgown which had no sleeve. At the end of the road there was a small gutter. I did not remember the time after I slid. I fainted at that time. When I opened my eyes, it turned out that I was in my old house and I was crying because my whole body felt very painful. Then I knew that I had a lot of wounds on my body: a tear in the right forehead, a wound in the right arm, and a wound in the chest. When my father and mother told me about the tear on my forehead, they told me that the wound must be sewn. I cried and I said that I didn’t want to be sewn out of fear. Finally, a tear wound on my forehead was only given medicine and covered in a bandage.
âś˝ Short Story
A Shocking Day

When I was in elementary school, after sport class, we took a break while changing clothes. Veta and I sat in front of dressing room.
“Veta, will you accompany me to the canteen to buy some snacks?”, I said.
“Of course, Gessa”, she said.
In the canteen, we bought snacks to eat in front of the dressing room. In one of the snacks I bought, there was a chili sauce.
“Can you help me to open the sauce?”, I asked.
“Of course”, she asked.
She exactly sat next to me and opened the sauce. When she opened it, the sauce hit my right eye. We were shocked. My eye was felt like burning. She panicked and looked scared. Then I screamed and cried while closing my eye. My mind frivolously thought that I would never be able to see again. My heart was beating fast like a rushing horse. I didn’t know where she went and I lost track of her.
“What’s wrong with you Gess?”, asked my other friends.
“My eye was affected by the chili sauce when I asked Veta for help”, I said.
(My friend took me to the bathroom.)
“Open your eye, we will splash your eye with water”, They said.
It was hard for me to open my eye. Slowly I opened my eye and in a bent position, standing in front of the wastafel with my head tilted, my eye began to be doused with water by one of my friends. Farah searched for Veta because she left without any words. Apparently she was sitting alone in the classroom.
“Veta, why you are in class instead of helping Gessa?”, Farah approached and asked.
Veta didn’t say anything. Farah was upset and came out of class and met my other friends while expressing her frustration to Veta. Farah accompanied me in the bathroom while my other girlfriends approached her to class. Because they were upset, they questioned Veta in a loud tone while pointing a finger at her.
“Why you don’t care about Gessa? Why did you leave when you make her eye hurt?” they asked.
Veta just kept silent, still not wanting to speak. They got more annoyed with her and spoke with a higher tone.
“Why, Vet? Please answer, don’t just be silent. You have to care about her because you are responsible for this!”, They said.
(Veta got scared and started dropping tears.)
“Why did you go, Vet?”, asked the others.
(Veta soon cried and looked down while crossing her arms on the table.)
Break was almost over. All of my friends went to class except me and Farah who accompanied me in the bathroom. A few minutes later, my teacher came to continue the study. Then she saw Veta crying.
“What happen Veta?”, asked my teacher.
One of my friends told her what happened between me and Veta. Then my teacher calmed her and she stopped crying. After that my teacher went to the bathroom to see me.
“Are you okay, Gessa?”, asked my teacher in a worried tone.
“My eye is still poignant ma’am”, I said.
(My teacher saw my eye and she saw that my eye was red.)
“You need to go to the medic room to rest there, Gessa. Farah, you must accompany her to go there”, asked my teacher.
“Yes ma’am. I will accompany her to go to medic room”, said Farah.
(My teacher returned to the class and resumed the lesson.)
The school bell rang, signaling that it was time to go home. Parents had gathered at the gate to pick up their children. There were also parents who enter the school and waited for their children in front of the class. When Veta left the classroom, her mother who was waiting for her in front of the class saw her.
“Why you look like someone who had been crying, what happen?”, said her mother.
“Because she hit Gessa’s eye when Veta open the sauce for her”, said my friend while bringing my bag and Farah.
And my teacher came to Veta, Veta’ mother and my friend. My teacher explained what happened between me and Veta.
“Where is Gessa now?”, said Veta’s mother.
“In the medic room”, said my teacher.
Then they hurried to the medic room. Coincidentally, we had not been picked up by our parents. Veta’s mother saw that my eye was red.
“Veta, you have to apologize to Gessa”, said Veta’s mother.
Veta was silent. I wonder what made her silent. Maybe she was so surprised and she was scared and she didn’t know how to deal with this kind of thing.
“Veta, you have to apologize to Gessa”, said Veta’s mother once again.
“I am sorry, Gess”, said Veta.
“It’s okay”, I said.
Then Veta’s mother wanted to take me to the eye doctor but I refused. Veta’s mother also apologized to me.
“Gessa, hopefully get well soon and please apologize for what happened today”, said Veta’s mother.
“Yes aunt”, I said.
Veta and Veta’s mother came home and a few minutes later my mother picked me up. My mother went straight to the medic room after being told by my friend that I was there. My mother ran toward me to the medic room.
“What is wrong with you, why your eye is red?”, asked my mom.
“No, mom, I just got hit by the sauce”, I said.
Then, my mother brought me home and the next day my eye was recovered.

At first, they took him to a cafe, in the Malioboro area where there was ‘Lucifer cafe’. There he drank and got drunk together with the new friends who were introduced by his regional friends. When getting drunk, he cried happily in front of the crowd because he felt freedom. From that moment metting drunk became a habit. Every day he was drunk. He also tattooed the legs and arms of his body. He lived a very bad life until semester 4.

After that, he was introduced to marijuana and everything related to it. Those things greatly impacted his college activities. He came to campus with red eyes and in a drunken state. His body became thin. Obviously, his study was ruined. His GPA was terrible and he had got a GPA of 0. The average GPA from semesters 1-4 were 1, and only got 15 credits per semester.
When he felt tired with such lifestyle (semester 5), then he decided to move to the new boarding house. That was also one way to avoid friends who always came and forced him to get drunk and use marijuana. Then he lost his laptop in his new boarding house, in which there were tasks that he seldom did for late semester. That was when he did not have the spirit of study anymore. By semesters 5 and 6 he only registered but did not go to college. In this new boarding house, he pondered and began to change his life. He began to look for identity with a simple life and began to repent. The new boarding environment was also very supportive to him to change into a better person. He also stopped smoking.
Finally, in Semester 7 he decided to look for a new campus. He oved to Respati Yogyakarta University in 2017. His nickname was changed to Emil. For the initial payment he used necessary savings and looked for money. Since he moved to Respati, he changed dramatically. The GPA was always stable, 3 and above. He felt happy joining various organizations because he had never felt like them before. He became the chairman of UKM Melody Respati for the 2018/2019 period. In the 2019/2020 period, he was selected as the chairman of HIMAKOM, chairman of Gaudete Choir, and advisor to KMK. He liked being in Respati because he could have many friends, while in Atma Jaya he had no friends. He did not see the size of the campus, because Respati had successfully made him felt more comfortable and he felt that he could develop his abilities here. He also began to diligently go to church that used to be only once in a month and he was also active in various activities in the church. He wanted to prove that he would be to be a good and useful person for many people. He determined to study properly and planned to graduate on time. He wanted to show that he was able and would graduate extraordinarily with the experience he gained.
